Welcome to Redhill

Redhill is an extremely popular commuter town located in Surrey, just south of London. It is part of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead, and is a vibrant and diverse town which offers the important combination of fantastic transport links, easy access to beautiful countryside and a wide range of shops, restaurants and other amenities.

History

A settlement started in Redhill in 1818, but was initially known as "Warwick Town", named after Warwick Road. It was later named Redhill when a Post Office moved from Red Hill Common into the Southwest of Redhill. Redhill thrived in the mid-19th century due to the popularity of the railway and, as a result, a lot of the housing stock dates from the 1870s to the 1900s. As a result, Redhill offers a range of housing, from Victorian and Edwardian homes to more modern apartments and houses.

Education

Redhill boasts a strong selection of schools, with primary schools including Lime Tree Primary School, which is currently rated outstanding, and secondary schools including St. Bede's, which is also rated outstanding.

Local Amenities

Redhill provides an excellent range of local amenities. The town centre has a wealth of high street shops including a covered shopping mall, The Belfry. There has been significant development of the town centre in recent years, attracting well known large businesses to the area. In addition, Redhill also boasts a number of independent shops and has a thriving market.

Redhill has a range of green spaces to enjoy including Earlswood Lakes, Redhill Common and the Memorial Park. It also benefits from the Harlequin Theatre and the Cinema, both of which are located in the centre of Redhill.
